Hacking SigmaTel Drivers for E1705/9400, i need knowledgable helpers - Page 26

I'm looking for a version of that hacked driver that works with a Dell XPS M1330 and Windows XP SP2 Prof. Which driver is the right one for this configuration or which *.ini must I modify? The official version of Dell is named R171789...

Here is a tip on how to get audigy MB drivers and apps to work for free without paying for a key, every 3 times you format your system, but ofcource, you may not need it....if you buy an X-fi express card, when you load the drivers and apps for it, they are pretty much the same software, as the audigy MB drivers. If you pull out the card, your sigmaltel works with all eax features. But it's worthless, because they finally added the feature where if your not using external speakers your X-FI card can run your on-board speakers built in your laptop, unlike the audigy card, that i had for my 9300, back a couple of years ago. but for it can save you some cash if you have a friend that will let you borrow their card and disk to install the full drivers and apps and then pull the x-fi out and give it back to them and walaa! you have audigy HD MB apps and drivers that will never expire.

Has anyone figured out, once the Input Monitor is enabled, to get the slider functionality back? This is the most frustrating non-feature for me.
I got the hack working for M1330 and possibly M1530!

Look here:

Thanks for the reply Spatz and I have to apologize because my issue is really with a desktop driver but you guys are the only people really to find a SOLUTION to these issues. BTW, I just bought a M1530 so I think I'll check out your hack.
But like I said. I need to be able to adjust the input monitor not just have it functioning. Can anyone take a look at my driver and tell me if anything can be done? I would really appreciate it.

Hi guys. I’m another person with issues of Sigmatel drivers. I have Sony VGN-FZ280E with pre-installed Vista. I downgraded to XP and got Sigmatel 5.10.4825.0 drivers. They work fine except famous “external speakers mute” problem. I tried hacked INI files but driver doesn’t start with them at all. I also tried manually merge hacked INI and original INI file but I wasn’t able to find a way to resolve mute issue - it still plays on both - headphones and external speakers. It’s been couple days since I started fighting with it but no luck so far Could you please tell me what exactly option in INI file is reponsible for muting ext. speaker when I plug headphones in ?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi, Maybe I could help. I have succeeded getting the Stereo Mix function on my Inspiron 640m. It has been a year now that I struggle with that problem. Yesterday I found something on a French forum dedicated to Dell. The recipe is roughly this: Driver R122161. When unzipped there is a folder named WDM Inside there are some INI files. Replace 92XXM2-1.INI by one of those provided on this page: There are INI files for the 9400, 6400, D620, D820, and 640m. It worked for me and my 640m. Unfortunately, I did not get the full Sigmatel Control Panel. But the Stereo Mix icon appeared in the usual recording window. The new INI file is a lot longer than the ancient one. It contains a long listing of terms and registry keys that is very boring to me and seems useless. Anyhow I studied it a little and found the following lines which are not present in the ancient file: [HKLM\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\MediaCategories\\{0C1 76AD4-0B8A-457b-839D-4545E1F1DDA7}]<o> Display = hex: 00,00,00,00<o> Name = "Stereo Mix" </o></o>Yes! Stereo Mix!!!! When I saw that icon I was happy as a kid. For the second quote of Falerus, I got the same problem. At first the icon appears. Then you have to right-click and activate it. You're not done yet! You have now to go in the proprieties, find the volume control and put it up. Then it should work in Audacity as it did for me. I hope this will fall in the hands of some smarter persons who will be able to configure INI files for all other models. Mine is a Dimension 9200 desktop. That's where I most need Stereo Mix, not on my laptop. Don't forget me, please. <!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--> <!--[endif]-->

Seems that you and I are exactly in the same case.

As I said: Dell is making us live the same nightmare. If you make a search on this forum with "Sigmatel" you will see a thread titled "Finally, Dell decided to give access to stereo mix..." But it seems that is only for laptops. Why? Something tells me that the end is near, though... Don't lose hope.

Well, I've found a potential workaround... I downloaded this program:

http://applian.com/freecorder3/

It's free, which was a must for me, and it integrates into your browser and lets you record as mp3's. I haven't tested it much, but it seems to work pretty well. I guess it's Ok as an intermediate solution, but I hope someone writes a real driver sometime soon.

I'm actually worried that if I post this and it works for everyone, people will stop hacking drivers. Don't do that people, please...

I don't think you have to worry because Freecorder doesn't do the entire job. I already have it. It catches the sound that is coming from the Internet through the browser but nothing else. For example, some radios on Internet go through Winamp to be heard. These cannot be recorded with Freecorder. What I am looking for and, I'm sure, most users are also, is the function that makes you able to record "what you hear". This is the mixer output sometimes called "wave out" or "stereo mix". We have a coincidence here because I was just about to write (or try to write) to the people who produce Freecorder to ask them if they could modify their software so it could record every sounds going toward the speakers and not just the ones coming from the browser. Maybe it is as easy as changing a few lines in the program? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .* . . * . . * Right now I'm looking at the problem in a broader manner. What I would like is a program that would give me the total control over all sound related functions. Why not? I am not completely sure yet but I think that this can be done by software only.

Need help completing this. So far I've been able to enable Stereo Mix and Line input. The 2 front jacks (Headphone and Microphone) are also working. The only port working on the back is the green (Line-Out/Headphone) connector. Therein lies my problem. I need help figuring out how to enable: Surround Sound Connector Line-In Connector Microphone Connector Center/Subwoofer Connector Side Surround Connector I'm not sure if the S/PDIF is working as I have no way to test it. To get the StereoMix working I downloaded (R171789) from Dell. Then I copied (stacapi.dll) into (R124105) the driver package offered by Dell for this pc. Only other thing I did was modify (92XXD8-3.INI). I'm stuck there. I think it may be pin assignments. Sure need help with this one.

I realise that I already posted a reply to this issue brought by Knuckles (see post # 511).

Don't worry. You didn't find a final answer.

Freecorder works only wiht pure browser streaming audio. But a lot of audio coming from Internet use Winamp, for example. Freecorder won't see it (Or, more appropriately) won't hear it.

So it is not a workaround to reestablish a real "What you hear" as a source for recording.

Dell stays desperately silent.

Time to complain.

To all frustrated Dell's customers, maybe it is the time to make a complaint.

After many many tries to discuss the problem with Dell, I gave up and decided to file a complaint. One complaint will not do much but, if every buyers who paid for a decent audio system and got an amputated one do the same, maybe it will shake the giant Dell.

I found the site of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Bureau of Consumer Protection.
https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.s..._ORG_CODE=PU01

I was much happy to find out that I could file a complaint even if I am a Canadian citizen. After all, Dell is a US company.

Here is the text of my complaint:
___________________________

My problem is a bit subtle but I want to file a complaint about the Dell's Computer co. for selling products with a defect without properly inform their customers.

I wish that all customers in my case would file a similar complaint.

For years, desktop PCs came standard with a function called "Stereo Mix". It was not an option; it was normal, current and standard.

Suddenly, in 2007, with the arrival of Windows Vista, Dell decided to dramatically reduce the number of functions of the audio system of their computers: PCs and laptops.

Not only didn't Dell inform the buyers at the moments of the sale but refused any dialog about that subject afterwards. It is like there was a wall of silence on the matter. Impossible to know why this has been done and whether Dell plans to find a way to satisfy its now frustrated customers.

Fortunately, the solution exists at the software level. It could be as simple as Dell providing a new driver for all of its products and making them available on Internet for the customers to download.

Imagine GM deciding to make a car which lacks windshield wipers. That's what Dell did and it did it in secret.

____________________________

Maybe some of you will find my deed naive but it only shows my anger toward Dell from whom I bought not one but six computers in the last 12 months. Every one of them with the same defect.

Has anybody gotten any of the above methods to work on the Inspiron 1520? I do have "Stereo mix" but it's performance seems to be quite low. I tried using freecorder (paid version) and it seems to work, but while recording a skype call, my side sound good, but the other side is SUPER low (When recording is set to mic). When I set it to Stereo Mix, it doesn't seem to do anything positive. I can't hear myself through the headset, and the other side of the skype call can't hear me. It will then barely record the other side and not me at all.

Here is some relevant info from my device:

SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
Location: 65535 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus)

Device Instance ID
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_76A0&SUBSYS_102801F1&REV_1002\4&24F23DA7&0&0001

Matching Device ID
hdaudio\func_01&ven_8384&dev_76a0&subsys_102801f1

Currently using Dell drives found in: R171789

I have tried many of the other ini files posted,k and none seemed to change a single thing. Suggestions?
Friends, I was hopping you could be of some assistance as you are the gurus of the Sigmatel CODEC

Just as is the case with your systems, the XPS 420 from Dell has also been crippled in its onboard audio capabilities. The Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC does not allow to directly monitor the line-in or the Mic.

Using the EnableInputMonitor reg key procedure and changing it to 1 allows, as in the notebooks, to monitor the audio input, but it gets enabled for the Mic, and not for the line-in.

Now, since you have changed the inputs to outputs on some of the audio bords, do you know of a way (or possible routes) to make that monitoring be pointed to the Line IN instead of the Mic?

Perhaps a PIN swap in the Pin keys? Perhaps there is something as simple as: InputMonitorSource = hex: 2, I don't know... just a workaround to have the Line In be the one monitored and not the Mic.

Thanks a lot for any feedback! There are several of us on the Dell Community forums looking for a loop around this, the saviour will have full credit!

I've got a request here for you all- I own an Inspiron e1505 (running XP) with a broken headphone jack. It's a long story, but the jack is apparently registering that I have headphones inserted at all times, even when I don't (thus disabling the onboard speakers), and to make things worse, when I do have headphones plugged in, I only get audio from the right channel.

Is there a simple way to either just turn my Mic-in into a line out or bypass the headphone jack entirely and get audio back to the internal speakers?

Hope someone can help me out on this. Thanks.

Really tired of those mother****ers on Dell and their SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio. Tried everything, the "latest" version they have on their site (6.10.0.5511, A04) is absolutely capped. That really sucks, that's incredible how, paradoxically, as we advance in time, we go back in functionality with the guys in Dell. We may be back to the stone age in some years.

Tried downloading LG's notebook drivers, the 95mb one would **** everything (even sound playback), and the other ones simply do nothing.

As i said, as a home user, i'm really tired of these. I don't see it logical paying more than 1000€ to people who wants you being unable to do something everybody can except Dell clients.

The only reason why i bought a Dell (XPS 420) was to save TIME, of searching and building, installing things. AND THEY'RE MAKING MY L IFE IMPOSSIBLE NOW.

I promise, if "Stereo Mix" is a hardware issue of this Sigmatel integrated chipset, i will really wish bad things to Dell.

hello everyone,
been watching for a while, but this is my first post; I have an Inspiron 9300 and I now need the advanced features that are discussed here, now Ive already read through page 22 and can not find a solution for the 9300, if anyone can help, Id appreciate, its amazing that a thread has been going on for 2 years on this and Dell has not implemented the feaatures or moved on to better HW. Thanks to all.
