9750 usb hard drive problems

Hi guys I got a DPc Frankenstein that is the same as the Sager9750.
I'm having problems of performance and is it really strange. If for example I got 2 or more usb in use the notebook gives me problems and a lossof performance. If I transfer data from my hd to another usb hd the notebook is almost completely stopped. Is the AMD cpu? the VIa drivers? Any idea??

Which Operating System & Service Packs? Also are your USB connections USB 2.0 (for sure?). Is the CPU "Dual" in anyway? If not, that may add to the single task nature indicated by a slow down of other tasks.

I'm using windows xp pro sp2 32bit
The cpu is a AMD X2 4400+

what you mean by usb 2 for sure? I know for sure that my hd is usb 2.0.
Maybe I have to install some drivers for the cpu or something like that?

Also, check to insure that you Anti-Virus software (if installed) is not set to check each file that your are transferring (when it reads and then again when it writes).
