Hi, I have the same problem with my display as the one in this post:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-euro...essageID=54000

It seems that my screen can't display all the colors corectly and there appear somekind of stains/artefacts in most of the colors.
Here is a photo, not so good but still, with my issue:

You can see the first color - pure red it seems ok and solid but he second - a small varation of red it has artefacts / somekind of stains.

I learned that this is a dithering issue which may be resolved in BIOS.

For the Satellite A100-237 the problem was fixed by downgrading to a older version of bios, but what can I do with my Tecra A7-112 notebook?

Has it been this way right out of the box or how long ago did it start???
Have you been doing any modifications or changing settings, updating drivers ec????Your computer isnt that old, isnt it under warranty????

Yes, I saw this problem the first moment I started the notebook. After I did a little research on the Internet it seems that the Satellite series A100 has the same issue. The problem is in the bios, starting with version 1.40 ... and you can fix this by downgrading to version 1.30 ( the latest is 1.80) ... but this is for the Satellite a100 as I couldn't find any older version of bios for the Tecra A7. It seems that the dithering of colors is not made correct in the bios...

If it's been like that out of the box, bring it back & get it fixed or replaced by whomever you bought it from. You shouldn't have to tinker with a brand new laptop in order to get it to work properly. It's suposed to work right from day one.

Yes, but it seems that this is a BIOS problem and the Satellite notebooks have it too...

If its an obvious problem, notify Toshiba and book an appointment at an authorized service center and have them sort it out

A lot of the tecra A7's and Satellite 100/105's share hardware and even bioses. If you reallly want to, you can try and fix it your self and risk making the problem worse. In htat case I'd look through the downloads page at toshiba at all the bios options for your laptop and the ones that those iotehr guiys are talking about. WEither, the bios for the satellite will say it will work in your tecra, in which case you can just use that, or you will have to look through the update history and see which of the bioses for your laptop best matches the description of the one that the statellite users siad worked, and risk doing it. The other option (and the one I'd recomend) is to contact toshiba and let them straighten it out. It's a brand new laptop that should be working flawlessly when you got it. If not that's what buyer protection laws and warranties exist for. Bios problem or not, it's not working. If it had been a windows problem or some other software that you'd installed then it would be another story, but the bios is part of the laptop. Call Toshiba.
