Acer Arcade

Just got my 5672x1600 in today!

Going to re-format to WinXPPro NTFS and the only thing I'd like to keep is the Arcade proggie - what steps do I need to take to ensure I'm able to install it after format?

FYI ~1200 in 3DMark06 and 5700 in 3DMark03. Hopefully I'll see thsese scores rise up a bit after I switch to NTFS and conduct some tweaking.

Thanks!

Also: looks like I'm gonna want to keep Launch Manager. Anything else I should hold on to?

I did not create a back-up it naggs you into creating when you log in for the first time. The back-up procedure - does it do somehitng special or just a ghost copy of the drive? If it indeed creates some kind of restore disk rather than just ghost copy, how do I run this tool again?

Also looks like some Acer progs have a default.red file with all the registry entries? Think maybe I can just copy the files and add the registry entries for it to work, thus avoiding actual installation?

Am kinda bummed that it didn't come with any kind of backup/restore/windows CD. Not that I need XP Home anyway, but an extra CD key would be nice, and I imaging all the acer apps would be on the restore CD...

I've been curious about this acer arcade... Is it just software? Can any Acer laptop run it?

I have a 8204 and was wondering if I found a copy, could I use it?

thx!

I would guess it is not hardware specific and will run on any (acer) laptop. In fact, it'll probably run on any computer, period, as long as it does not explicitly check manufacturer ID or something, which is probably the reason it is not available for download on their site in the first place.

Ive reinstalled my arcade software via recovery this weekend. I had originally uninstalled it the day i got it thinking it was just some bloatware. I must say... the arcade software is great! Its like a free version of MCE and works rather well at it Anyone know how to find it on the harddrive? Id like to stick it on my other comp.
