IBM T30: Press Power-ON, but nothing, no beeps

Thread Starter
Hello everybody,

Pls help me. I use laptop IBM T30. When I press the power-on button, my laptop does not response: it just turns on the power-light and does nothing, no beeps, with black screen. I hear the noise from hard disk (so i think my hard disk works), but my laptop does not work. I press F1 after pressing the power-on button (I want to make a change to start with CD), but I can not jump to the BIOS program.

Anyone who know it, pls help me. Thank you a lot.

sounds like a faulty GPU to me,

Try an external Monitor, if not then you need a new Mobo.

I bought an Used G40 IBM thinkpad and have a similiar problem. I wonder why the motherboard doesn't work. Does anyone know what to do? I can't accept motherboard dying. Where on the motherboard is it dead? Does anyone know how to be sure the power supply is powering up the motherboard?

Before resorting to replacing your motherboard, try to flash your BIOS: take out the battery, AC cord and open up your laptop from the bottom. You should see a small watch battery connected to the motherboard somewhere. Disconnect that, wait for 5-10 min, and reconnect everything. If that does not work, your PSU may be dead or it is indeed your motherboard.
