Microphone weak to the point of nonexistence

I've tried to use the onboard mic on my new Sager, but regrettably, no matter how high I turn the mic volume in the various controls, there is no effect. If I plug in an external mic and yell, then later when I turn my speakers up to the maximum, I can just barely hear it.

What gives? Any thoughts?

In Recording Control (Audio) - Select Micropohones Advanced tab and then check on Mic Boost it is not set that way currently.

Microphone is in two places. Both as an input and output device. The advanced tab is on the "input" device side and the "box" to enable the mike boost is located there.

Were you able to find it and set it?

1) Open Realtek HD Audio Manager.
2) Click on "Mixer" tab.
3) On the lower portion (named Record), find the slider for "Mic Volume".
4) Next to the radio button to select the input source, there should be a small square button with ". ." on it. Click it.
5) Ensure that the checkbox for "Microphone Boost" is checked.
6) Ensure that the radio button for "Mic Volume" is selected, thereby setting your input source as the built-in microphone.

THEN
1) On the "Playback" (top) portion of the Mixer screen, scroll to the right until you see the "Rear Pink In" slider.
2) Un-mute and turn the slider up.
3) Running your finger over the built-in mic should now produce noise from the laptop speakers.
