Which laptop - PLEASE HELP!

Thread Starter
Hi there,

I need a laptop for work related stuff such as being able to run Eclipse or similar IDEs and do some hard core java development. Found some interesting machines in the local computer sales magazine:

1. HP NX6320 CENTRINO DUO T2500, 1GB, 80G, DVDRW+DL, 15SXGA, GLAN, 11G, CR, XPPR $2339 AUD

2. ACER TRAVELMATE 5614WSMi CENTRINO DUO T2500/ 1G/ 120G/ DVD Dual/ 17"/ WiFi/ XPHOME $2499 AUD

Portability is not important and I would be happy with 15 inch screen size at least, anything else is a bonus for me. I am more concerned about the performance and the price - would not like to pay more than $2500 AUD.

Could you also let me know if you know of any laptops with the similar specs that may have a good reputation?
Please help!
Thanks

15" are more popular because it is lighter than a 17".

do you know what those prices are in $US b/c they seem really high to me, unless the exchange rate make them like 1500 in US

mitcity thats about right actually they come up to a bit over 1700 US but you cant really expect the same prices cos australia is... well, its australia... the asus w3j i love so much isnt even available here, and i just coerced a supplier to order a shipment from the US.. but, you see you guys get it for around 1799 USD which is about 2400 bucks but the supplier told me hes selling the w3j for 2850... i coerced him to give me a discount and he says fine 100 bucks off... 2750... so im currently starving myself to save enough to try and afford it... oh, the hunger pains!!

I've just bought HP NX6320 CENTRINO DUO T2400, 512MB, 80G, DVDRW+DL, 15XGA. The first impressions are performance, good design, high capacity battery (5 hours), silent operation.

The cons: LCD is not bright, low viewable angle.
