software issue

Hey folks, I've recently taken on another school building and with that comes a couple mac labs and and one regular staff who uses a mac. I don't know much about mac os so I'm here for your knowledge.

I have a lady who recently got a new imac and she does public relations type of stuff. Lately she has been having an issue with Adobe Illistrator crashing or closing out when ever Adobe Indesign is open. She needs to be able to work in the programs side by side.

Thanks in advance!

bumping this back up....

I read the article and performed the disk operations. My user continues to have issues with the software mentioned above. This unit is maybe a month old now and she says it performs MUCH slower than her macbook that she's had for while (don't know the specs of that its her personal).

She was having issues with the wireless keyboard for a while also but its cleared up for the time being.

Download the COMBO version (not the delta) of the latest update to OS X and install it on the computer.

Also, try trashing the preferences files for Illustrator and InDesign, and/or try installing them again.

If that doesn't work, back up her data and try a complete reinstall of the system.

Unfortunately, as they are both running under emulation right now any problems you're having might not be fixed until the next versions of the Adobe apps come out.

here's another smaller thing...she says the caps lock key doesn't work on the wireless keyboard. Should I just try and get it replaced or is there any known fix/bug/work around?

Is it an Apple wireless keyboard or third party?

If it's an Apple keyboard if the caps lock isn't working there might be something wrong with the key. A third party one, however, could have something wrong with the key or the driver might not be recognising it.
