Is their a 7800GTX with only 1 heat pipe? (listed on ebay)

a seller has a 7800GTX for the m170 on ebay, it only has one heatpipe but they insist its a 7800GTX and they verified it with Dell. Is this a new design?

The 7800's required the dual pipes - do not trust that seller!

Maybe ask the seller for the part number off of the card, and then verify it on here.

I do agree that it sounds not possible. I can't imagine the 7800GTX with only one heat pipe, it get awefully darned hot!!

thats what i keep saying but they insist, they now think that maybe a different heatsink is screwed on top...which would be very weird i know its possible but ive never heard of it happening and wouldnt it be neccassary anyways for the 2nd heatpipe?

The single pipe heatsink will fit on the 7800 GTX. Maybe the seller is correct but I would be skeptical First of all why where the heatsinks off in the first place? Secondly if the seller doesn't know what he is selling, chances are he didn't own it in the beginning.

Given the fact though that the dual pipe 7800 can get up to 90, i cannot fathom how hot the card woulget with only ONE pipe (not to mention, its the pipe with the weaker fan, meaning even less cooling..

Your absolutly right! My GPU can reach over 90 degrees when playing Titan Quest. Although the two heat sinks are interchangeable. I just never heard of one being sold with only the single pipe configuration.

well they sold the card, im tempted to ask the buyer once he gets it but i think that violates egay policy and i know hes going to contact the seller and i have been contacting the seller (annoying the seller more like it) so if the buyer mentions, that "yeah my card isnt a 7800GTX like you (the seller) said it was and then this guy asked me about it" the seller might get upset. But i tried to warn the seller and he brushed me off if he gets the card back its his own dumb fault anyways here is the link to the ended auction.

Judging from those pics, thats a 7800go.That card isnt even gonna fit in a 9300 or M170. Whoever bought it thinking they could plop it into their 9300/M170 are wrong.

Well, you can put it in, but then you lost the top power button connection (in the thread about the 9300 w/ 7900 they talk about that). Either way, it wouldn't work in the 9300, as they don't work with the 9400 cards, because of bios problems..

They think everything is a 7800GTX... I recently won an Ebay auction for a "7800GTX Go for 9300/XPSGen2..."

LUCKILY, before it shipped, I checked out the picture, and the Dell part number they listed on their Ebay auction, and it was actually a 6800ULTRA card, which I already owned...

I brought it to their attention, and they appologized and refunded my payment.

It's sad to see that they are not checking these things very well, but it's also on us, the users, to KNOW what we are buying.

Oh, The Ebay auction number was 220014098570 if you want to see the picture for yourself. Note the white sticker on the back of the card, the 7800GTX has a sticker that is the full length of the black heatsink backing. The 6800ULTRA has a smaller one... That's what I noticed first.

Like I said, they were prompt and polite when I told them it wasn't what was listed. Too bad, it was CHEAP!!! To cheap to be true...

It is definately not a GTX, looking at the pics you can see that the circuit board, not the heatsink, does not have the chink in the bottom corner so it will not fit any 9300 variant. Too bad for the buyer!

Looking at the buyers transaction history he has been buying parts to assemble his own 9300, mobo, CD drive, modem, screen, he is going to be sadly dissapointed when his GFX card does not fit!
