Hi! I recently got myself an ex-corporate HP NC6000 laptop, and have a few questions regarding the items depicted in the title of this thread.
Here are the current specs of the machine for reference.
- 1.6GHz Pentium M CPU
- 768MB DDR400 RAM
- 80GB Toshiba MK8032GAX 5400RPM Hard Disk
- ATi Radeon 9600 Mobility graphics controller with 32MB DDR RAM
- Bluetooth and WiFi (integrated)
First question: What can I do to upgrade this machine? I run Windows XP Pro SP2, and I think 768MB of RAM is enough. Will the machine take a faster CPU? I know that the Pentium M range goes upto 2.1GHz ish, I just don't know if the laptop will accept these. Will a faster CPU decrease battery life, or do all the P-M range use similar amounts of power?
The chipset is the 855PM that supports upto a 400MHz FSB.
Also, how can I increase battery life? I have 4 hours 35 mins if I leave the laptop sat, or 3 ish if I use it for Word processing. I have seen reviews showing 6 hours+, so is a new battery the answer?

Any help is appreciated.
