could u expand ur queries a bit more? best way to connect to what? bt to ur cell - what do u want to achieve?
most reliable choices - to go wireless, in connectivity?, in security?

or u mean wireless to internet in general?
if so, at home if u r not moving about much, cable direct is the best, if u do not mind one extra cable sticking out from ur laptop.
built-in wifi device or usb/pcmcia or bluetooth - depending on ur hub router support - allows u to move about, it would also good with hotspots.
it exists lots of thread regarding security over wireless, personally, a good simple firewall coupled with a simple virus scan can do just as good regarding security for simple internet surfing.

Thx for reply.

I want to have my Database (ACT!) on a Laptop and be able to connect to the internet for email and to look at couple of websites I use for business. Basically same production machine on my desk but mobile.

Of course in the house mobile too. In the house I use dsl so I have a wireless router of some sort.

m i missing something?
looks like that u r all set : dsl, in home wireless connectivity via wireless router, crm app on the laptop (same as in ur current desktop)
r u looking for some hardware recommendations? if u already a production machine i guess u r already been setting up, so it should make no difference now that u want to move this onto a laptop

On the road wireless...around the house is apparently no big deal. So how do I go wireless away from home?

now we get somewhere :-)
few options:
1. important - good firewall, good virus software
2. finding hotspots, those free internet connections, http://www.wi-fihotspotlist.com/ - good start
3. follow the hotspots site instruction for connection (mostly about setting up network connection properties)
4. other than that, it is just like u have wireless at home

just to expand a bit more, finally understanding what u meant by "bluetooth to ur cell"
1. u can use ur cell as "modem" connecting to the net, contact ur provider to see if they can set u up with the service, and yes if the cell & ur laptop support bluetooth, why not
2. i personally used a umts cardbus (pcmcia) from t-mobile and this gave me a good connection speed of around 360+kbit/s, i heard that it can go as high as 1900+kbit/s.

but again, with more and more hotspots being made available, using cells and utms is a bit of an "expensive" hobby

cheers ...
