It looks like ATI's New generation of card, the R600 directX 10 we're all waiting for, is going to make a GIANT LEAP in it's core clock. The current generation tops out at 650-700. We're talking a 300-350MHz bump. Bump really isn't the right way to say it. It's more like a smaller card worth of MHz added into this new beast. Shader Model 4, DirectX 10, GDR4, and a rather lovely 1000MHz core clock. I'm going to buy this card a ring and take it home, if you know what I mean!!!!

I HIGHLY doubt it. That article is old, it was posted on the inquirer months ago. Maybe overclocked with liquid nitrogen cooling you could reach 1,000+MHz. Don't get your hopes up. ATI already hinted to using an 80NM core.

Another rumor is that the card will have 64 pipelines. Again, I don't believe that either. If ATI follows what they have done in the past the card will have a 3:1 ratio having almost 200 shader units.

WHEN we first time heard that R600 was going to be a big chip we could figure out that ATI wanted to completely redesign the chip and fill it full of lot pipes.
We previously wrote that the chip will have sixty four Shader units but we never realised at the time that the design is actually built around a full sixty four physical pipes. That is what various high-ranking sources are telling us.
In this scenario, unless Nvidia also managed to triple its pipeline count in the upcoming G80, this chip could lose out big time when put against a 64-pipeline ATI offering.

The outcome is still uncertain as we don’t know enough about the G80 to make the final conclusion.

The R600 is scheduled for very late 2006, if all goes smoothly. And, if not, you might see this one in January - probably released by AMD's ATI.

Remember this is a DirectX 10 chip that is an advanced version of the R500 chip the Vole uses in its Xbox 360

www.theinquirer.net sucks!!!!

They are wrong 95% of the time!

There is just not enough room on the chip at the 80nm process. it only gives a 40% increase in space over the 90nm.
