Warranty on I9300 hard drive longer than Dell laptop warranty?

Thread Starter
I bought a I9300 in May of last year. The hard drive recently crashed with a blue screen error "unmountable_boot_device". I ran Dells internal diagnostics test and received these error codes 0F00:0244 and 0F00:1A44. A quick search online revealed that the hard drive is dying. I ran a chkdsk /r and Im now able to boot into WinXP. However if the info I saw is correct I probably want to replace the drive asap.

So my question is, is the Hitachi hard drives warranty longer than Dells standard one year warranty that came with the laptop?

Im beginning to wonder about the quality of these Hitachi 7200rpm drives. The first laptop I received hard drive wouldn't even boot correctly. Dell replaced the whole laptop. Now after a year the second is already having problems.

Thanks

the harddrive will have the same warranty as the system. meaning if you're out of warranty and your HD dies, the manufacturer wont replace it if you got it from dell. you'll have to buy a new one either from somewhere else or from dell. in which case it would be better to go somewhere else cuz dell's will only have a 90 day warranty.
