I've decided to get back into the market for a notebook for school. I want a 12" notebook because I've already got a powerful desktop, and I only need the notebook for stuff in class. However, I would also like to use my laptop for some LAN parties with my friend, so mediocre graphics would be nice (my two LANing friends have an X200 or X300 card). I looked at the companies I could think of (HP/Compaq, Toshiba, Gateway, MSI, Asus, Dell) and the only thing that really interested me was the Dell XPS M1210. The only thing I don't like about the XPS is that it's not 64 bit (I'm a computer science major, so I know what that really means). However, it is Windows Vista capable, so the 64bit thing isn't as big of a deal. Without coupons, I can get a system I like for $1400. I'm not sure of the Intel roadmap, will this notebook at one point be able to accept a 64bit chip? Are there any other 12" notebooks with this kind of power at this kind of price?
