Everyone takes pics of their nice shiny new laptop the day it arrives, my question is to those who own xeno grey alienware products.

I wondered, over time here now that the XENO grey has been out for a while, are AW users who have the XENO GREY units noticing any wear and if so can we please see some pictures and aproximate age of your units?

Thank you VERY much on this,

I don't expect it to last a lifetime and I realize it WILL wear and scratch etc but if I buy an AW it is mainly for looks (cuz lets face it I can get the same lappy for less in most cases thru sager with longer warranty) yet I want that case and glow logo etc.....

But am just curious how it wears over time here on the Xeno Grey at least.

I'll try to get a picture up later, but using mine in class it has permanent palm imprints and the screen edge rubbed on the palm rests as well after about 3/4 months. Since I noticed it I've started putting a piece of packaging material between the screen and palm rests when I close the lid and also try to keep my palms off the keyboard and instead use an external keyboard or prop my arms up on the edge (to keep my hands off the palm rests).

I am very curious of a product made that is a super thin plastic clear sheet, its used for protection from stones on the front of my car as well as in a few areas inside the car where belts slap plastic areas (so this thin plastic sheet protects it) yet is very thin and sticks on, what I am wondering is if I get some of this right away before the wear happens and apply it if it might help keep it looking good without being much of a hassle.

I do know the guy who makes these custom pieces for car interiors so getting a sheet or two to work with won't be a problem, I would love to see tho what a xeno alienware does look like over time, I figure the clear coating sheet applied can't really hurt tho, also curious of other areas that might show wear sooner than others if any...

Thanks for the reply and hope to see the pics soon,

If you don't have a host this is a great site to host pics on free

Bill-

I know about imageshack, I was just too busy to take pictures, fix them, host them, and link them. Anyways, here they be:

I outlined the affected areas in red, but my camera isn't that great for macro shots, but I hope you can see what you need to. If you want "better" pics lemme kno and I can get my sis's camera and change the lighting.

I had one for a short time then traded it off. It was supposed to have been 8 months old, and the paint was awful. Another one I looked at buying was supposed to have been 5 months old, same thing.

I have wear on the border of the screen from the power button and the 3 option buttons to the left... I have not noticed any wear on the LCD from the keyboard! Area51m7700

Me? Oh hell yeah!

I use it in some pretty crazy environments too. Hot, Humid, lots of vibration and smoke/fog. Its my "hog"!

I do live performance/DJing with it and appart from a firewire driver issue I had with an external drive, everything else has been going well.

About 2 years old. Getting ready to do a custom paint job on it.

KNOCK ON WOOD and she will still be around for much longer.
