Well,
After some time looking for a laptop with no price limit in mind, I found this one and was speechless.
The prics is absolutely amazing and the specs are
I was going to get it from the laptopshop but they messed us around so I cancelled the order and went to comet. They charge too much there but oh well.
From laptopshopit would've cost me £880 with these specs:
2GB of DDR2 556mhz
Intel Dual Core 1.66mhz
512mb GPU ATI x1400
+ A 2 year warranty from comet (Full insurance )
and everythin else (Please not these were off the top of my head so )
And I go to comet they charged £800 special online price :P. But I decided instead of buying it off the internet. I could go to the shop and pick it up there and then. So off i trodle all happy, and when they told me they didnt have it in stock I was gutted. So they said I'll have it by this sunday from 9.00am - 6.00pm. So I wan what you guys think of this laptop personnaly and if its a good choice for a 13 year old (me :P)
Also I might add: Would it run "Need For Speed - Most Wanted". Cos on my desktop:
3.06ghz Intel P4
1gb of ram
Nvidia GeForce 6200LE
It doesnt run it very well. To get it too play without being really slow I have to put it on 800x600 and level of detail too "None".
So I was just wondering if it works any better on the laptop.
(me hopes)
Also, Seeing reviews that have been saying how bad the cooling is in it, is there anyway of getting a water cooler or any other cooler inside of the laptop out of sight?

(I hope so)
Thanks,
Nathan

The x1400 will be little to no better than you 6200LE. The laptop is great (i know, i used to own one), but the graphics are very disapointing (nothing that is Acer's fault, just that the x1400 is not a gaming card...)

I find it strange they still sell the 5672 with a X1400 in the usa, here (Belgium) its been the X1600 for some months now, and you will not find the X1400 in shops

My brother bought a the same type of acer but with the x1600 and 1 gig of ram. He has been playing need for speed most wanted on it. It seems to work just fine on his (laptop cooler recommended). The 16ms monitor response rate doesnt seem to bad either. I believe the x1400 should be able to run it a low-med settings. This game takes alot of higher end equipment to keep this game skip free anyhoo. :-)

lets hope you have a usb keyboard and a lappy cooler, those bastids get rather uncomfortbly hot
aside from that, grats!! its a very nice lappy, owned mine for about a monthish or so, very great preformence once you get over the ntfs and tearing down the partition junk, then theres the 63 processes that run

Well,
I always custimize my laptops so.
By the looks of thinfs the firsth thing i will do is do a backup, then ill convert it too ntfs (I don't mind keeping home for the time being + comet doesn't say what OS it is coming in) and then ill just play around with it etc....

oh and I'll go in to msconfig and get rid of some startup programs (there always bloated :<)
im going to get it from my grans today at 11:00ish
Can't wait!

I like my laptop Ive had mine since April and I like it. I play World of Warcraft on medium-low settings as well as Counterstrike source on medium. It's a great all around laptop and the cpumark on 3dmark05 was slightly faster than my athlon 3800! Just be sure to get a laptop cooler.

I run games on my 5672 X1400, I found the catalyst drivers to be faster than the ATI ones, as you can't update the ATI ones due to ATI not having support for ACER laptops with the mobility chips.

With most stuff on medium to high I get about 30-60 fps in WoW, 30 in towns, 60 in instances. As for NFS MW not sure, I haven't installed it on the laptop yet.

Well,
I can run nfs-mw at almost full settings! So thats good and im very pleasd with it!. It can play games with cpu at lowest settings so thats aslo great

Glad you like it I need to get NFS:MW. Currently only racing game I have on it is Microsofts Rallysport Challenge which runs everything at max.

Well I also like Toca Race driver 2 and 3. I havent played those on the laptop yet. Nice to hear the NFS:mw plays well. Rise of nations, rise of Legends plays well (med-high) setting on the laptop as well. I have alittle problems with Battlefield 2 (skipping). I belive its a problem with the audio hardware or the software. Battlefield 2 is a resource hog anyway. Oh and if you looking to warm up that grahics card, download the ati x1900 space screensaver. hahaha choppy goodness :-).
