HELP! Video card trouble....

Ok, I installed a new graphics card (a 3DFuzion 6600 256mb) in my brothers computer about a week ago, and it installed and ran fine. All of a sudden last night it booted with these green lines and garbled screen and I'm not quite sure why. I know when i bought the card it said you need a 300W powersupply which his computer has, but is the power supply still not enough and the lack of power is causing problems?
I'm at a loss what would all of a sudden give him trouble after a week of being perfectly fine....

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance....

I think your psu is good enough for a 6600, so I don't think it's the psu. Check your vga connection to the pc it could be loose or there could be a broken vga pin.

did he add any new hardware? maybe he was right on the edge with that PSU and something new tipped the scales in the bad direction..
also, can you monitor your voltages? most name brand mobo's have a utility to check temp's and electrical activity.

Another thing. I used to have a 6600gt on one of my computers a while back and if I remember it correctly, there is a molex cable that you connect from the video card to the psu. You might want to check that up also.

the VGA connection was fine, I reinstalled the old card temporarily and it worked fine.
the power cord to the card was connected fine, double checked that as well.
he also hasnt added anything new, I am wondering if it is just a bad card... I told him to call 3D Fuzion monday so I will see if that turns up something...

Thanks for the tips! let me know if y'all think of anything else!

Welcome to kwik-e-mart, oh wait, I have a different job now...

hopefully their tech support is good, but that seems to be nearly impossible to find..

It sounds like it is dead. I killed a GPU resulting in similiar screen garbling and green lines a few years ago while changing the heat sink and fan. Seems odd for a GPU to just go bad without it being touched. If you bought it from NewEgg you may be able to exchange it as a defective card.
