Well, on my 9300 with 6800go, 1gb ram, 80gb 5400rpm, wxga, 1.86ghz PM, When i have BF2 running up on it, medium settings, sometimes(about 2 times a day) it will just totally crash, my screen goes black, my computer beeps extremely loud, and the only way i can turn it off is to take the battery out and take the AC plug out as well, as you can tell, it gets quite annoying.... Anyway to fix this, Ive gone through everything with dell, they pretty much are just shrugging it off now, all diagnostics are a pass, and i really have no idea what to do... plz help!!!

Thanks in advance

Hey pdonket,
Try holding the power button down for 4 seconds to power down after a crash. Removing the battery should not be done while the notebook is running as connections can be shorted in the battery bay that will cause a surge in the system. It sounds like an overheating issue.

BF2 always wins it's battles... That damn game has the worst code ever! and to think that Dice/EA is working on the next BattleField... they're so evil!

I have no idea, I reseated all of my memory to make sure it was all in correctly, Im not sure if this fixed the problem since I havent tested since. Also just letting you know, I have been playing the game for about 6 months and just recently it has started having major problems, BTW: there is absolutely no way to turn off my computer, I have held down the power button for about 15-20seconds and it refuses to shut off unless i take out the battery and AC power

I would bet the problem is not your lappy. You're running the version 1.3 patch for BF2 and that patch sucks. The 1.3 patch has been causing multiplayer servers to crash constantly. The main server i play on crashes about three times a day. Also, My lappy came stock with the exact hardware setup you have and i played BF2 with it and it was alright. But now it doesn't even seem like the same game. Now i play online with all settings on high with AA of.

Care to include what drivers you use when you have problems with a game, BF2 has issues with some driver versions.

Well, after talking numerous times with dell, they finally decided to send a new graphics card ^_^ hope it fixes the problem

You should also run Memtest86 to see if you have some bad ram.

BTW, if you play a lot of BF2 you will be much happier with 2GB of ram.

When Vista comes out my desktop going to get 4 gigs and see how much of an improvment it will make with BF2

+1 for 2gig mem for bf2 - Agree with Zeke try memtest86 worth checking that for sure!! had a similar issue when i switched to 2g mem. cheezy brand of mem.
I changed them out for Cosair and no problems ~ definitely upgrade to 2g memory what are you thinking running 1g for bf2. haaha darn EA forgot to add that to the requirements.
