[request] dv9000z pics

Hey,

I'm very anxious about the dv9000t that I'm most likely going to get when HP releases it. Can anyone that has the dv9000z post pictures of it, and let me know your opinion on its looks and feels? I've read various posts, and they generally say it's kinda plasticy (instead of aluminum alloy or whatever else), but looks pretty good. Some people complain about the silver color, not sure why cause I think silver is better than black but whatever.

Thanks

Ricky,

I too am waiting on the dv9000t.... On dv9000z pic's... I haven't seen any posts from anyone that received one yet.

Find a local store near you, check out the dv2000, dv6000 series.

And yes it's sort of plastic looking, feeling... Which is not surprising since it's made out of plastic, instead of a magnesium alloy like the Dell 17 inchers. While I prefer black in the keyboard area, and think the silver is going to wear making it look bad after a few months use.. Silver is a better choice for colors since these machines are going to be fingerprints magnets. I would have gone with a matt finish in the keyboard area... saving the "surface sophistication" as HP calls it for the upper LCD lid.

Actually I spoke to one of the "technicians" over the online chat, and they said the case isn't plastic, it's some sort of fibre stuff that is very similar to plastic but better. I can't remember the exact words but it included fibre lol - I had copy and pasted the transcript but (lucky me) our power flashed, and bye-bye computer . So now I'm waiting for them to email the transcript, but it's been a few hours now so it's probably not coming.

Anyway, it's supposedly tougher and smoother than plastic. Although I'm sure the smooth part is just a top layer coating of some sort, but I can't be sure. I also asked him about the color rubbing off, especially by resting palms below the keyboard, and he said I shouldn't worry, it won't rub off from use. Which could be BS, but maybe he's telling the truth.

I think I would rather have plastic than metal anyway. Metal has its cold hard feel, and it's not like I'm going to need tough protection... Either I handle it with care and both plastic and metal will do just fine, or I drop it and the insides are scrambled, never mind what the outside looks like. Of course I will be getting a 3 year (or maybe just 2) accident protection, so I would send it off and have it back to new in a few days, case broken or not.

Point is, I don't really mind the plastic and I'm glad it looks better. I'm not one to be picky about style but I wouldn't mind good looks to go with the awesome performance.

If it was HP would be talking that up big-time...

Of course they aren't saying much about the new HDMI port on the Dv9000 series machines, pretty big news if you ask me.

I'm sure the case is re-inforced with fiber so some extent.. carbon fiber I highly doubt.

I found the link to these pictures of the dv9000z on another site. I don’t see an HDMI port and the owner of the notebook said the HDMI was not included with this dv9000z he received directly from HP. So it looks like at least this dv9000z did not come with HDMI, unlike the guarantees that HP and some people on this board made. You can never be 100% certain until you have seen it with your own eyes.
