Since you got it, you need to find out what OS the thing shipped with, what OS apps it will run. Will it be an ok computer for music/internet/writing?? YES... depending on the OS you use, if there are apps that will run decently. Don't count of using the latest and greatest OS with all the bells and whistles, or apps though. Good thing is there are probally old apps out there you can get cheap, might be out there for download... And there is probally a HUGE database of info on that machine, compared to a machine that's just come out. Best of luck to you.

after spending a fair amount of time on a similarly spec'd Imac running OSX Tiger I will say this: no it will not be an OK computer for music/internet/writing.

at least not all at the same time. with so little RAM Tiger grinds to a halt. a computer with those specs cannot even easily run multiple instances of Firefox. I tried playing an audio CD in the damn thing and it was nearly armageddon (it took nearly 2 minutes for volume changes to go through).

save your money, or keep OS9 on it (but good luck with that, OS9 is worse than Windows 98 in my book).
