W1Jc - any experiences?

Hi!

Here in Germany you can get the ASUS W1Jc:

Specs:
Core Duo T2500 2x 2.00GHz • 1024MB • 100GB • DVD+/-RW DL • ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 256MB • USB 2.0/FireWire/Modem/Gb LAN/WLAN 802.11abg/Bluetooth • Mini-DVI • 4in1 Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro) • Hybrid TV-Tuner (analog/DVB-T) • 15.4" WSXGA+ TFT (1680x1050) • Windows XP Professional...

The "c" stands for "carbon" - and the whole thing weighs about 3.2kg...
That comes close to be more portable than mobile... Anyway, that thing looks great with its black brushed aluminum and its carbon cover - and the specs are awesome.

Now - has anybody had his hands on one of those? Any experiences?
I want to get a new notebook and since Asus might update this series with Core 2 Duo, I will consider to purchase this baby ^^

It looks very nice, and I like the specs. But it's not available in North America, so it's not an option for those of us who live in the US or Canada.

I am currently owner of an Asus W3N... I am looking for a new notebook with especially higher display resolution. So I think that a 15.4" notebook with a WSXGA+ resolution should be great. This notebook seems to have it all...

The other notebook I am considering is the Acer Travelmate 8204. But since the Asus one has probably the better screen (I prefer "colourshine" over the common screens) I would go for this one once ASUS has updated the series to Core2Duo. The only thing that bothers me is wight. Can anybody tell me about his/her expericens with 3.2kg (7.06lbs) notebooks?

Asus will sell the W1jc and some other models as well, startech taking pre-orders, hoping to ship within a month or 2 ...

We are hoping to get total clarification from Asus on this today. It is possible that they will not be bringing this unit in, and we are looking to get a final answer before we remove pre-order status.

No we are not going to carry W1 in US, only W2.

Damn, half of the badass things that ASUS makes arent available in the US, I wonder why?

no clue why Asus make different model for different countries even different parts in a hard drive, cpu, bluetooth,....etc!
