My intel 915GM/GMS,910GML videocard on my inspiron 6000

I have Inpiron 6000 from about 1 year, I updated my RAMs into 1 gig.
The problem that I have is that when I bought it, it was written that it has that integrated intel videocard with memory of 128 mb, but when I viewed the amount of my videocard memory from the properties I found it to be only 96 mb.
I have asked this matter to intel but they replied that this is a new technology that they have in which the the display memory increments itself automatically when needed by a DVD or a game till it reaches 128 mb, also it was said that this is related to the BIOS which locates that display memory upon each startup.......

The problem also that when I try to play some games they give error messages telling me that my graphic card is below 128 mb so they will not run at all ...

My question, is there any way to hack the BIOS settings so that the default memory would be 128 mb??? taking in concederation that the display memory in the BIOS screen in my laptop can't be changed
Or there is an overclocking method to the videocard

please help me as soos as possible as this matter really annoyes me alot and sorry for my bad English

well with respect to the games which wont play. check for config files, which sometimes contain details of video mem. or such. try editing those.

other than that, try loading a lot of video intensive things so the memory in use goes up to 128. then install/run game! its a crappy way to do it, but working at all is better than not.

I meant a game like BattleField 2, the Easy info which is in the game files inform me that my Display memory doesn't meet the min. requirments of the game.
So which config files could be there, in which I can edit.

Also the other method, I tried before but I didn't see any change in the memory!!!!

I need a way to hack my intel videocard files or BIOS files.......

Please help me

Also I wanna ask what is meant by Overclocking, is it done for processor or can be done for videocard.
And how can I do it on my computer knowing that my Processor is Centrino 1.86 GHz

You have an integrated video card, this means it doesnt have any actual memory, so it borrows from your system memory. Battlefield 2 won't run on your computer because your card can't handle it.

Yah, the GMA 900 in your laptop just can not handle the modern games. Games from 2 years ago, yes but not now. Check this list out for compatible games:

10xs guys for ur help, but this means that there is no way to make the default value for that shared memory 128 mb???

By changing the BIOS or any way else??>>>

No..it changes automatically. But like i said before, your card is very weak, the problem here aint really the memory it's using or not using.

Yah, it uses a dynamic program to ascertain your video memory needs. It always takes 8 MB and can scale, as stated before, to 128 MB.

had the same problem... fixed it... kinda.

Well, i had the exact same thing happen to me. And intel told me that it was just their variable thing too.

Well, i contacted Dell and they found out it was a problem with their video driver. Luckily for me, since my warranty was expired.

Anyway, after letting some guy at Dell remotely take over my computer for like an hour or two, all he did in the end was rollback the driver. As soon as it rebooted it was back to 128MB.

The guy said that he'd have dell's software team work on a driver that wouldn't screw up the memory usage.

Well, a few weeks later dell released a new driver, and when I installed it, my max graphic memory went back down to 96MB. luckily, rolling back the driver fixed it again, but i had, a old driver from like 2005, so the improvements i had from the newer drivers were gone.

So, you can either try to rollback the driver, and then have the new driver not work for you, and be stuck with the drivers that came with the computer, OR you can make a nice call to dell and tell them that you think there drive update screwed up your maximum graphics memory. (If you can find the intel accelerated graphics panel under display properties/settings/advanced you might be able to see where it tell you the maximum allowed, minimum allowed, and currently in use. Usually only 13 - 15 MB are in use if nothing is happening on the screen.) OR you can just live with the 96MBs.

personally I took an extreme route and found an i6000d motherboard, and an ATI radeon mobility x300 grahpics card on ebay and replace my i6000 motherboard with the intel integrated graphics. I also figured that while i had my laptop ripped apart, that i'd buy a new processor, so i upgraded to the Pentium M 780 2.26Ghz, from my kinda crappy Celeron M 380 1.6hz. All my upgrades with shipping cost me just under $300 bucks, but let me tell you it was almost impossible to find the parts on ebay that were in good condition or new for that price. I will say it was definitely worth it, becase according to my benchmarks, the smallest increases in performance were twice the original speed, and the greatest increases were over 10 times faster then before.

can the 950 even play BF2 at a playable rate?

i don't think the game will even load. my biggest guess of what will happen is that it will load up, but towards the boot screen it will just crash before you can see any gameplay.
