hello guys, i bet AS5 is a lot better, but im wondering if ASC could replace it at all, as i couldn't get the AS5 here (as you can notice by my writing im not from usa)

what im doing is a pinmod for a 725 processor, as this tutorial:

thanks for your help

I used to use the Ceramique because it was cheaper, but I notice a multi-degree celcius temp drop when using AS5. I would recommend it over the Ceramique.

Where are you located? I have a ton of 3.5-gram tubes of AS5. You could have one for $5 + shipping...

thank you, im at guadalajara, mexico. the shipping could cost more than the AS5 itself hehe

ill try with this ceramique just as my processor arrives and let you know

Yeah, I'm sure you're right about the price, and like I said there's not a huge difference between the two. The main thing is that you're using an Arctic Silver thermal compound instead of the ridiculous little "thermal pad" that's included. Best of luck with the build!

thanks nano!

I believe most people use ceramique for 3rd party video coolers, since AS5 is more conductive and therefore has more risk. I think there might be about a ~2-3 degree difference at most.

If you will google some reviews for AS5 and Ceramique you will see that there is almost no difference between the two in temps. You may see a 2-3C difference at the very most with AS5 whereas i've seen reviews where the Ceramique did better. It depends quite a bit on how good you are at applying it because if you do a suck job you might as well be using toothpaste. Cermaique is cheaper and is non-conductive so it's usually better to use in areas where it might get on something other then the core of the CPU/GPU.

I'm running a pinmodded 725 with the Ceramique compound and my temps are 48 - 49 C once it's warmed up and idle. I peak in the low 70's under a full load. I have AS5 and have thought about switching back, but I don't know if I'd gain much. BTW, before pinmodding by cpu ran at 43 C.

isn't 70 a lot heat? what could be dangerous then? 80?

my cpu currently peaks at 60, and sits idle at 35

i agree, 70 is a bit high, even for a pinmod, i think. my 2ghz rarely ever goes much over 60, and usually idles around 40-43. you should check for dust in your heatsink...
