Premiere 6.5 and dual-core processor

Hi,
Will an older program like premiere 6.5 benefit from a dual-core processor ? Some say old programs will not, but others say video-editing software does. I still use premiere 6.5 and i ordered a precision M90 with a dual-core processor.

Never mind. After my M90 arrived i found out for myself.

Premiere 6.5 does not benefit from the core duo. But when i installed Premiere pro 2.0 trial (core duo optimized) i noticed that it runs incredibly well.

I think i will upgrade within a short period.

How much better is Core duo w Adobe Premiere Pro, any real bench comparison

How much better is your new M90 w/ Core duo w Adobe Premiere Pro 2, did you perform any real time bench comparisons between your old 9300 w/ 6.5?
Anticipated boost from a Core 2 duo ?
Have you ever used an Audigy 2 ZS notebook PCMCIA card, any benefit for DVE resulting sound?
SODIMM is =, so how much better is the new GPU?
Are you doing HiDef Vid or just regular?

6.5

When I got my Dual Core lappy recently, I installed Premiere 2.0, but since I'm used to 6.5, I sent ahead and installed that as well. When 6.5 boots up it actually says "Dual Processors Detected"

I'm thinking of importing my 6.5 project into 2.0 and seeing how much shorter the rendering time is if at all.

I'm a lot faster doing the actually editing on 6.5...mostly because of the A/B editing style vs the single-line editing.
