Hello all,

I have just purchased a new hard drive for my Dell 8500 notebook. I don't own any manuals and I don't know how to install it

Does anyone know of or have an installation guide on how to do it? preferably with pictures or even an installation video

Any help would be great

It really doesnt get any easier than swapping a hardrive on the 8500. First off, take the battery out and unplug it. Ground yourself by touching any chassis metal underneath the battery. Take the one screw out as per the above link and slide the assembly out. There will be a pin adapter you have to take off the old hardrive and put it on your new one. It will just pop off with a tug. Put the new hardrive in the tray, just watch how you pulled the old one out. I think you need to remove a few screws to get the old hardrive out of the tray, cant remember it was a few years back I did this. Plug the assembly back in and put the one screw back in. It should take no more than 2-3 minutes, even your first time.

If you need more help than this, I suggest you take it to a computer store.
