What Linux O/S works with this model?

Kubuntu just fubured my whole drive and I can't book into Windows, and I can't even log on to recover it with fixmbr.... it says invalid password but I used it all the time to log in.

lol....interesting. are you sure you had a dual boot setup and not accidently ahve it erase your entire drive?

anywho....if one works they all work so if i were you i would have gotten kubuntu setup and running the way you like it...if not you can always give something else a shot.

if you're willing to put forth work Arch and Gentoo are good options.

if you're a lazy bum then PCLinuxOS is not a bad option.

How good are the packages on that? And how much of a chance do I have to get my ATI drivers to work ><

Looks like its a good chance.

Is this like a really noobish O/S or kind of similar to Ubuntu?

I want to try PC-BSD but looks like there is no way to get ATI drivers to work, or NTFS-3G

bsd has no fglrx devices, you can always use vesa but thats no fun.

pclinuxos is a n00bish device. fglrx works from the get-go if you get the full .92, and will require a bit of a setup if you go with the mini .93...i highly recommend you go full .92 for now and just upgrade the packages.

getting ati under ubuntu isn't all that difficult either...at least i dont think. the packages are pretty good and well optimized, but are somewhat behind the times (ie..not bleeding edge, but recent enough to be acceptable).
