That uses the nVidia c51mv chipset.

I think you will need the nforce 430/410 drivers from nvidia's site, but I am not positive about that. Certainly one of nvidia's platform drivers should work

You'll have to find the proper nvidia chipset drivers. Which drivers in particular are you looking for?

since gateway (emachines) is slow in getting software/drivers out there, i recommend that u google/yahoo/msn ... "nVidia c51mv chipset"
many manus r using this chipset at the moment. asus A6M, clevo M550j, msi ms-171772 just to name a few. i m sure that their software repositories would have more than what gateway offers (or not offer) at the moment

well, I have the same model, w340ua, and I was having a problem on audio in XP. But now it's fix.
download the driver from below
http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...ghlight=mx3414

I found out the mx3414 have the same audio as w340
Here's the picture

By the way, I tried install the vista beta version, audio has no problem at all. But vista can't install the correct video driver. HAVE to go to safe mode and change the driver manually. Hope microsoft will fix it. Anyone know how to report it to microsoft?
Highly recommend to have 1.5G of ram to run vista, Otherwise it's HELL of slow........
total way too slow on 496MB ram..................

My mate has an eMachines N14 W340UA

Spent ALL afternoon searching for the bloomin' drivers and finally found a page with all the ones for it...

There is one problem though - the URL to the page messes up when I post it here. Because of this I have put a link to it on this page here...
