I had the Antec Notebook Cooler (P/N: 75004). Here are the issues that I experienced:
The cooler was too small for my laptop. The cooler had to speed settings for the fan on low the cooler could not really be heard on high it could be heard but not over the volume of Battle field 2.
The cooler absolutely stunk to high heaven
, not a burning smell just an odd smell. The reason I indicated that it was not a burning smell was because not long after using this cooler I experienced a problem with my laptop going into Hibernate (running off the battery when plugged in). I am not sure if the cooler caused this problem by taking to much of a current draw or if it was a coincident. I traced the problem down to the "DC Power Jack" (if I put some pressure on the plug to the side I get a connection). Also on another note I took the laptop (Inspiron 9300) a part to look at the jack to see if it was loose and it wasn’t. The inside of the laptop’s two fan cooling locations were filthy so I cleaned them up (this helped cooling considerably, I have had the laptop for a little over a year so I would say it should be cleaned every 6 months or maybe every 4 months if you have pets that shed).
The laptop only gets hot when my son plays Battlefield 2. I am looking for a larger cooler that has its own power supply. Let me know if you come across anything?
I hope this helps.
