Output to a 19 inch CRT

I have been reading through alot of these posts I am considering buying a "Desktop Replacement notebook" I still have not decided on a manufacture Sajer or Dell? But my question is I would like to keep using my 19 inch CRT monitor running at 1600x1200 @75hz am not sure if a 64 meg video card can do this effectively?

Umm, well if you get a current model Sager(8890, 5680, 4780, 4080), Their video cards are all the MR 9600 Pro turbo 128mb. MB also does not really matter in a card, but IMO the VGA out SUCKS on my sager, but the UXGA screen is so beautiful i don't know why you would want to.

Which model are you looking at btw?

First things first, Sager

Ok, there's not reason that the video card should have any bearing on the size of the screen ur outputting to. that's like saying my video card can handle 1600x1200 on a 17 inch monitor, but not a 19 inch monitor...that just doesn't make any sence. And which Sager model are you looking at, as the true "desktop replacement" systems have 128MB of video RAM anyway. So anyway you'll be more then fine.

Well on the Sager line I am looking at the 8890 and the 4780.
For the dell I am looking at a new 9100 becuase of the fact that is has the 9700 Radeon chip in it.
The reason I waunt to output to a 19 inch screen is I do alot of address list work in Excel and Access at work.
Also I am not realy taking in to account about battery life which I know is about 1 hr to 2 hrs the Dell I can get dual batterys running on it.
The specs for any that I am looking at is
P4 min 2.8ghz
512 Ram
60 gig 7200 RPM HD
64 or 128 Video Ram.

This will be used at work to replace my 1 ghz desktop but I waould like to keep using my 19 inch at work.

The 5680 runs dual battery setups...

I feel some what obligated to tell you, in case you don't already know, about the 8790 coming out soon. If you can wait you may want to check it out.

Get the UXGA screen and you won't want to use a CRT anymore. Trust me. I haven't used my 19" crt since I've gotten my lappy.
And with remote desktop, don't even had the monitor connected.

Same here^

I use a Viewsonic A90F+ 19" CRT on my desktop and I dont touch the desktop now that I own a sager with the UXGA screen..

UXGA=The god of all LCDs

Actually I must say I was of that opinion , then I hooked my 19 Inch viewsonic up to the VGA out (granted this is under linux) and its so muc clearer that I can no longer play RTCW ET using the uxga anymore. Now I qualify this

1) The UXGA is gorgeous, its very very nice.
2) UT2004 plays perfectly under the uxga with just a slight ghosting and the need to up the gamma

Speaking of which - does anyone else find the uxga slightly to dark and need to boost the gamma slightly?

Yeah, a bit dark, but not a big deal. Brighter than my 19".
Umm... a CRT cleared then a LCD? hah. You must either have a very high end pro CRT monitor or you have a defective lcd.

Well I decided to get the Dell 9100 with a second batery its a P4 2.8 ghz
15.4 wuxga screen 512 ram 60gig 7200 rpm drive and a 9700 128 meg Radeon video card.

But now I am having second thoughts on getting a Dell 8600 with the Pentium M chip because of power consumption but with a 9600 Pro video card the cpu would be a 1.7ghz same everything else but it costs about 200.00 more than the 9100???? Must be because of the CPU?

Oh this is so hard, to spend money you loose sleep, dont eat, and get all crazy in the head lol.

My advice - get rid of the CRT, buy a 19" LCD with DVI input and the 8890.
Sweeeet!
Best combination I have ever used - period (except for the 50" projection monitor that someone had connected to their 5680 on this forum).

If you do any graphics, you have to use a CRT. Sager screens are nice and all, but when you have to compatible with other monitors, printers, etc, you have to use crt.

I thought I could just use the sager 5680 UXGA untill recently i posted a new product announcement for our company website and then saw the pictures on my old computer, which has a very accruate CRT, which I use for print and advertising.... The colors were just wrong, even though they looked right on my UXGA.

So if you do graphics, have to use CRT, if you play games, UXGA is fine. But I would still rather use a 22" CRT over a small laptop screen.
