Hello,

May sound silly, but after owning this laptop for about 2 month, and doing a lot of gaming, i noticed that left palm rest is starting to get dirty and darker in shape of my palm lol.

i tried water and soap, it didnt clean off, do u guys know any ways of cleaning those silver surfaces without damaging them?

thanks

its normal wear and tear especially if you play alot of FPS games or games that use the WASD. I've had my i6000 for about a year and a half and teh left palm rest is almost completely white in the shape of my palm. =] I don't think there's anyway to reverse it besides using a external keyboard or just stick a piece of paper underneath your palms when you play.

white? mine is turning black

i read on mac forums, that people use clear non-acetone based clear nail polish to remove stains on their white macs

what do u think about that? or will it bleach out the silver?

ok i tried rubbing alcohol, it didnt do a thing
i dont wana try clear non-acetone nail polisher, im afraid that it does work fine on white computers, but it might remove those spots and turn my silver dell into white mac lol

do u guys have any suggestions? is it say posible to buy a new replacement palm rest cover from dell?

The paint is gone so you actually rubbing the plastic. I know that was gonna happen so I used an alternative keyboard via USB

It's not dirty in first case ... the paint is gone!
So how could you "clean that away"?
Get a new palmrest from dell spareparts if you like ... (that's what I did with XPS2).
Now I use USB keyboard with my E1505 aswell.

Here in Germany they only have Email, no Website/Phone.
Call a Dell rep and ask for this email address.
I'm not sure if I remember correctly: spareparts@dell.de
