Found this a good read on how the Dell model has lost its advantages over the years as rival companies adapt, consumer products change and questionable decision-making have been occuring at Dell. I also find it very interesting how the article predicts that eliminating its exclusivity rights with Intel at a time when it began to introduce the Core Duo 2 may have been a step in the wrong direction, seeing that this technology has an advantage over current AMD chips.

i seriously doubt it was dell's decision to drop the exclusivity deal with intel. amd had better chips so intel undercut their prices to dell to maintain market share. intel now has better chips so why do they need to undercut prices to dell? they dont, so they stopped. now there's no reason not to offer amd so now they are. so effectively this was an intel decision. i'm sure if intel still offered dell undercut prices on conroe/merom dell would still have the exclusive deal.
