Is some une using it on a EX7? Or using it at all? Any comments? You like it? Do not make your system slower?

Thanks

I use it on my system, and in my opinion, it is the best version of Windows XP. I would definitely recommend getting the MCE 2005 Mini-PCI TV Tuner offered for the EX7 since it works within Media Center and offers hardware encoding.

I think that is the one I have, it is the only one that is internal right? The other two options in the website are externals I think.
So, the Media Center is like the same as the XP Pro or XP Home?
I guess my fear is that the Media Center program will hijack the memory and recourses of my system even when I'm not using those features.
have you tried any extender? I have an XBOX360. I think that works fine as an extender.

Nope, Media Center essentially runs as a separate program. Also, that is beauty of the of the hardware encoding is that it will record without taking any system resources and you do not even have to have Media Center open so you can anything else you want at the same time.

You need to double check about your tuner with HyperSonic. If your system did not ship with Media Center, then you probably DO NOT have the Media Center Mini-PCI tuner that has hardware encoding. Just list what you have in your device manager, and I can let you know as well.

Thanks

I am not using any Extender at the present time. Also, you have the regular Mini-PCI TV Tuner. That tuner will not support TV playback within Media Center and does not have hardware encoding.

However, if you are willing to pay for the other card, it is very easy to swap the Mini-PCI tuner cards.

Well… finally finished to install it, actually upgraded it.. not really the best to do… I guess I will do a fresh installation. But works really good, I do not really use the recording feature because I have a DVR on my HD tuner, so I mostly use it with the extender. I have to tell you that the XBOX 360 is a wonderful extender. I just downloaded an episode of Vanished on XVID HD with AC3 5.1 and the MC with the XBOX as an extender delivered an incredible good picture quality on my HD TV with the AC3 5.1 .. like if I was tuning it form the TV actually.

I found this plugin for the MC that convert any kind of video, even quicktimes, in realtime and stream in to the MC without having to do any kind of weird things. It is called Transcode 360
