Take all the posts regarding Dell's battery recall and substitute Apple.

This only affects the iBooks and PowerBooks that used Lithium Ion batteries made by Sony...

Perhaps a mod could change the title of this post (and delete the duplicate) as it's a bit misleading...

Why are the 17 inchers never included? I want me a free new battery, damnit!

Of course, the fact that my current battery isn't under risk of exploding makes me happy.

are notebooks under other odms that use sony li-ion batteries that are rebranded, under the same risk? i wonder whether such smaller companies that resell these would even put up the effort to do a recall, or if its plausible. i want a new battery.

Yes and no it is a Sony battery that is causeing all the problems but not all Sony batteries are bad.
