xp and osx file system Q's...

basically just wondering if all i have thats read/write comp. with the two OS's is fat32?

i see osx can read ntfs, but not write. i know xp can be made to read HFS, but im not looking to change anything.

just looking to do some backing up of files and be able to read/write them. i know fat32 has its limits, which would be a slight bother since i have a few 4gb sized files

The FAT systems are the only ones that can be both read and written to out of the box for both systems.

MacOpener and MacDrive will give Windows HFS+ read/write capabilities.

only main thing i see is fat32 cannot be formatted above 32gb during initial install of XP.

does this mean i can go higher for fat32 for just a backup partition?

If you can format the partition with a Win 98 bootdisk you can format any size disk. The 32 gig limit is an artificial one imposed by MS.
