Backorder on m5550

As most of you know, hopefully, the m5550 is selling like hot cakes covered in crack. The motherboard is on backorder and I was wondering if anyone knows how long it usually takes for Alienware to get their parts?

Thanks.

Aww man, I feel for you, I really do. I'm sorry.

Can I get a little sympathy too? I"m in the same boat. Backordered even thought they told me that I wouldn't. I'm not surprise at all.

i dont know about you guys but i just got to phase 4

After a month and one and a half week I just got to phase 4, I called and cancelled this morning, I guess I won't have the joy of an Alienware afterall, I've opted for a MacBook instead because of the fact that I love macs and now you can operate windows xp on them, and play games! I was talking to someone who ran Guild Wars perfectly on the MacBook soo it looks like that's what I'm getting, in alot less time too.

Good Luck with the MacBook, muffinman.

I play Guild Wars on my MacBook, but I wouldn't say it is perfect. If gaming is important, I'd definitely go with the MacBook Pro (assuming you don't want to wait for the AW).

Same hear Chodorovski. I think we might get our notebook at the same time.

Oh yeah, I also upgraded my notebook to core 2 duo. No price increase so why not. Maybe you should do the same.

You might feel even worse knowing that same system ships with a better processor for the same price. I'm in the same boat with my M5750, havent recieved it yet and its obsolete.

IF your order hasn't been shipped, maybe you should call them and ask they can do an upgrade. That's what I just did. BTW, I was at phase 4.

Already tried, they said I can't.

So basically I'm out $250 in order to make my Laptop modern. I guess if my games work well I might not care for the time being, but now I'm disapointed before it even gets here.

Yeah I know the feeling. But your core duo will still be blazing fast. As for me I'm lucky enough that I'm still at the point where I can still upgrade the processor. Well, I guess being in the backorder list does have it merit.

Well most of us with Core Duo procs have ours in our hands right now. There is merit to that too! LOL

I'm going to just live with it. Lets face it, the 1.66 isnt exactly the top of the line. If it was going to happen its better that its happening with that chip and not the 2.33ghz. I'll probably get the 2.33ghz chip when I feel the current one isnt adaquate.

There ya go. That's what I'm doing. Clocks might be higher by then anyhow.
