Hi, my GF bought me a branded briefcase/bag for my laptop. The bag is awesome except it use the "magnetic snap closure" to "lock" the bag. I'm just wondering would that piece of magnet damage my laptop?
Thanks J, I'm glad to hear that.
But I thought hard drive the really sensitive? I remember when I put together my server, I tried to add those HD fans and ppl told me that electromagnetic field is strong enough to damage the HD......
I would think that the laptop casing and the other stuff in the bag would be more than enough to shield the hard drive from the magnetic field. Distance and materials between the 2 help shield it. Plus the hard drive has a case too that should help protect it some.
Is the hd in notebooks magnetically shielded? Or do notebook makers depend on the exterior of notebooks to protect the hd? I think without special magnetic shielding the notebook speakers, which is a lot stronger than magnets in carrying cases, would wipe out the hd.
