Friend of mine recently moved to germany, as her husband is stationed there. They are on base. They recently got dsl over there, but are having issues with it working, namely, they were told aol us version will not work on it. Any insight on the matter, differences between dsl in the usa and overseas? Shes having a hard time getting any tech support.

told by whom?
dsl provider? - i doubt this very much
or aol itself? - would not be surprised since aol in germany also is a dsl provider, so they can try to sell the service

difference between dsl usa/ger = ger is cheaper, dsl providers are much more available, when u speak their language, or get a neighbour to do it

was the problem using aol? or accessing internet in general? name of dsl provider?

Ok she said nothing would work until she uninstalled aol, and presto, the dsl worked fine. She is using AIM now with no problems. trying to find out if aol or the dsl provider told her she couldnt use it.

it could be also just a simple connection configuration within aol software, like may be it was setting up to use dial-up line or special "aol" line with automatic sign-on that is being conflicting with the dsl set-up
glad to hear that it is being resolved

cheers ...
