sorry, i do not quite understand ur question, if it is under warranty, they will try to fix it, meaning u'd probably out of a laptop for a few weeks, unless there is a "be able to get a replacement during repair" (something like that effect) clause in ur warranty contract cheers ...

Well, depending on your warranty coverage, Dell will either have you send it in for repair or send a tech out to fix it. They are unlikely to replace the PC.

hello ,

i live in italy and i have buyed a xpsm1710 from italy in dell uk by email, with a kind commercial who is said yes at this possibility of affair.

beh, in italy the xps line is not present.

My XPSM1710 has given many problems to me-
but the great Technical Support Dell Uk XPS, in first time has said me that it could send in Italy a new system XPSM1710, giving back to my actual XPS to Dell UK.
Little days ago, the Technical Support Dell UK, has said me, that they had a problem in the booking reference and cannot send outside uk and therefore they have given me two alternatives:

1- Support Dell Uk XPS send the new XPS to someone in uk, and then this to
forward it to me.

2- Machine alternative in dell Italy.

My perplexity is why Dell Uk commercial Division send XPS outside uk,while the technical support does not send outside uk?

Actually have many friends who from Italy are acquiring in Dell UK with you many XPS systems , and Dell Uk Commercial Division( from Dell Ireland factory ) send in italy many xps systems.

You what of thoughts on this situation?

Thank you for digging up a 6 month old thread....please don't do it in the future.

With that out of the way, do you have an international warranty on the Laptop? If you don't then that is probably the hold up. Sales can ship a system anywhere in the world, but the portion of Dell that handles repairs and system replacements is quite localized. If you don't have an international warranty you'll play hell trying to get the machine serviced outside its country of origin.

thanks to you for the answer I have 1 year of international warranty. But for the problems that I have had on the xps, the Italian technical support has made to change to move to me the warranty with this link in italy: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/r...=19&l=en&s=biz now, if it is not possible to have a new XPS in substitution, it is possible to have one notation of credit in dell uk. I send to they this notebook and I make a new order? Machine alternative in dell Italy are m90 or 9400, i don't know the configuration but i wolud wish a xps system. What you say me to make? thanks
