I have a question, between these two, which is better, I Looooove AMD, but I also like the 14 inch screens, 15.4 is totally workable, but if i had a preference...anyway, I just thought id get a few opinions since im buying a laptop soon, I want to know which one is the best, I need a good videocard in it too, and these two looked like my best bets.

Z92T VS. A8jm

Wel you answered your own question by saying how you loved the 14" on the a8jm. There is nothing wrong with Intel and I doubt your love for AMD extends beyond the brand name. It could be a processor by VIA and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference unelss you read the specs because frankly, they are all very similar in performance (not the VIA) and unless you have transgressed to the point where you are a CPU connoisseur or god and are extremely sensitive with very discriminating tastes, the processor company will make absolutely no difference. The intel may also have slightly better battery life. 64bit is a gimmick so forget that. They've been hyping it for years ever since the athlon 64s came out. And how many people run windows 64bit???? I've destroyed your only compelling reason to stick with the former. Now you can buy with a peace of mind. Heh I am being presumptuous.

well, the Z92T is about 200-300 cheaper, and I hear it gets amazing battery life 3 hours with everything on maximum and 4 hours 20 min with medium. If you ask me thats pretty damn good.
I dont really have a problem with intel, they make a decent product, but ive always been a fan of the underdog, in other words, when it comes down to it, ill buy whatever suits me best, but, if I CAN buy AMD, I will.

funny, I was thinking about this myself as well. This will be my first laptop, so it's hard for me to say I'd prefer a 15.4" over 14", because frankly, anything smaller than 19" is small to me anyhow, heh. But in all honesty, I will most likely be buying a new 19" LCD monitor that I can hook the laptop up to whenever I intend to use it at home, on a desk. So I guess the next question to figure out would be, is the 14" screen just too small for me to use comfortably whenever not at a desk. And I think I read on one review that the keyboard was a bit "smooshed". So would the Z92T give me that much more real estate, or is the size and weight difference between the two models that noticeable? If anyone could provide some insight for this complex problem too, I'd appreciate it.
And like Killbot stated, I prefer AMD, I've personally been happy with their performance, and I'd rather support a company with such an uphill battle as AMD when it comes to Intel's rather unscrupulous trade practices.

The keyboard size shouldn't be an issue. It only gets that way with 12.1" and under. I am working on a fujitsu 14" non-widescreen s7010d which is only 12.4" wide, the same as the width of a 13.3" widescreen w7j. The bezel on the sides of the w7j is even thinner than my the fujitsu. The keys are very large, larger than my desktop keyboard, and I can type faster on my fujitsu than on any desktop system. This leads to a few conclusions from my experience.
1. 13.3" should have a good keyboard with full-sized keys.
2. the A8jm is 13.2", 0.8" wider than either of the laptops mentioned above. You should be able to figureout what I am implying.
Also, I find the whole rooting for the underdog a lame excuse to side with one laptop choice. Maybe I should go root for VIA and thier low power, slow processors and drag my way through microsoft word just because I like rooting for the underdog.

Yes well even as Intel claimed to be the best, the truth was AMD was far ahead and offering better prices on their processors for a while. It's probably only now with the current line of mobile processors by Intel that they have accomplished something of a true win. Nevertheless, AMD still makes some great stuff, and as been evidenced in Tom's Hardware's recent comparison between the Core Duo/Core 2 Duo and the Turion X2, there are areas that the Turion outperforms the Intel (slightly), even though they ultimately hand the title to Intel. Considering that Intel has been working with a superior 65nm process for some time, I'd venture to say that this is fairly noteworthy on AMD's part, that they can still compete in the mobile market. But with all that has been divulged concerning Intel's "bullying" practices, why would I deliberately want to support such a company? Politicians claim to want to stop monopolizing practices in this country, and yet we continue to have inferior products winning out, without giving the competition a fair chance. Now if Intel had a long history of fair play and overall the top performing chips, that would be one thing - to the winner takes all I suppose. That has obviously not been the case for some time. I do not need the biggest and the best, and as long as the Turion X2 is sufficiently faster than my many-years-old desktop, I'm sure I'll be plenty happy, AND have a clearer conscience.
Maybe I was unclear, if it came down to it, and the intel was the much better buy, id do it, but, IF I CAN, I woudl like to support AMD over Intel, mainly because ive had AMDs in the past, and I feel like they are a higher quality chip. Also, the core duo does win out a little, but not by any noticable difference, games will run at 42 fps instead of 45 BOO HOO, heheh, I just like AMD, and I feel like the Turion is a good buy. Just my take on it though

A user at Notebookreview, zachtib, has found a new notebook listing on the Asus website for the A8Tm. It's the TurionX2 version of the A8Jm!
Perhaps some of the resellers will know if it'll become available in North America? Perhaps as a customizable BTO model like the Z92T?

I am not dissing AMD in the least. My two first OEM computers were a k5 and a k6-2. My three subsequently self-built desktops were all AMD: palomino, athlon xp, and now 3800+ x2. The OP is driving part of his notebook buying decision based on processor brand. My whole point is that most processors perform quite similarly nowadays and rooting for one over the other while completely sacrificing the other important factors like weight and size, all of which I consider much more important on a laptop than the processor, isn't very proactive. If you didn't get the sarcasm in my VIA comment about being too much of a "fan", well I can't really do much about it.
