Can you guys please let me decide on which way to go? I just don`t know what to get. I like te looks of the TX Series on the other hand I like the price of the Asus The Asus is obviously a faster machine, but as I don`t need any 3D graphics power I really don`t know. I run Office, various programs and I would like to run Vista with no probs. Any ideas, hints? Pluses and Minuses? +/-?

I would get the Asus, if it didn't have that orange cover. The TX processor is slow and single core... I don't know that Asus model (I never look at ultraportables), so if you go that way be sure to check if it isn't too hot or something else you won't like (considering it's a core duo on a 11", but I think you'll be fine). One more USB port, gigabit lan (tx?), 4-1 card reader. And it's not like the build quality of the Asus will be worse

Btw, seeing that I realized my next language needs to be german.

I've had my S6F for a month or more now, and I have been really happy with it... Mine came with two batteries (one small one that sits flush with the case and a larger one that sticks out a little), which equates to shitloads of power without needing a powerpoint.

Dual core processor works a treat, heat isn't too bad, and you can always change the power profile if you don't need "Super Performance" to something calmer like "Quiet Office" or "High Performance".

At first I wasn't too sure how well I'd handle the 11.1" screen compared to the 17" of my old Sager, but I love it!!! Perfect size, IMO. Keyboard fits in pretty much perfectly, with the biggest thing needing getting used to is the small full-stop and comma keys.

The thing that pleases me most about this notebook is that you can easily tell that the design has actually being thought about... There's one USB port uncovered on the right side perfect for a mouse. The heat vent is on the left. Options least likely to be used (like extra USB ports and 56k and Ethernet) are covered by a magnetic door.

By far the best built, designed and usable laptop I've ever owned, and the looks are killer!

If you have any questions or want some photos, etc, let me know!

Oh, and the box it comes in is awesome!! Hahaha...

We'd love you to write a full review in the Asus Review section, if you've got the time.

Sony Vaio is a chick magnet.

If I was a chick, and I knew was ASUS was (most chicks dont) then that would be a chick magnet for me, but alas, I am a guy.

How's the battery life with the 6-cell? I also saw mention of a 9-cell battery on some Australian sites... That would be interesting.

Also where is the HDD compartment? I want to get it and replace the 100GB with a 160GB perpendicular, but the manual doesn't indicate where the HDD sits. Do you have to pop the keyboard or something?
Well when on battery for the most time I swap it down to "Quiet Office" mode, which will give me about 4hrs battery life, which is with the 9-cell.

The 6-cell lasts generally about 2-2.5hrs, this is with my usual word processing stuff, a bit of image editing/graphics work, music in the background, burning a couple of CDs, etc.

I'm sorry but I really won't be able to find time to write a full review, I'd find it much easier just to answer questions.

Hmm.. I thought you'd get more battery life. I am having a hard time finding the 1.66GHz version of the S6F, hopefully I can squeeze out a little more time with the 1.5GHz version that is available from NewEgg. Any idea where I can order or buy a 9-cell battery and a spare AC Adapter?

I'm not sure where you could buy those items in the US... Would be best to drop into your local Asus reseller and they can probably order them in.
