Can somebody please enlighten me? - Page 3

If you have one than just open it up. Its quite easy and you will see that each componant is standard and not like some companies who solder on the cpu and such. I took my ibm thinkpad apart and each and its guts were each propriatory.

Do you suggest the 3-year warranty?

On a laptop i always purchase the maximum warranty possible. On a desktop i only purchase it when i use it for my business. But for personal use i never purchase warranty.

so yes definitely buy warranty for your laptop. The out of pocket cost of fixing it on your own is insane.

It depends on how long you plan to keep your notebook. If you change out every year or two, the three year warranty isn't necessary. Two years might be a good compromise.

A three year warranty is a must for a lappy, IMO. Even if you plan on only keeping it a couple years, you might change your mind when you get to that point. A couple extra bucks is not going to make that much of a difference.

If you get the three year package, you can get Respawn and Autopsy included which is a good deal.

I am planning on keeping for more than 3 years since laptops are not as cheap in the uk as they are in the us.
