Hi all,

Well it did arrive; flown in from Taiwan with China Airlines. I like my new laptop!

I want to hook up with my tv set, however the Sony TV is not equiped with S-Video IN. It does have EUROSCART. A little googling turned up some black&white problems for the people in the old world, Europe I mean. See here .

Anyone can confirm the issue, or has solved it?

Thanks

This is a common problem going from NTSC s-video to EUROSCART. I believe there are adapters, but I have not used one.

I noticed this connecting a video camera to a euroscart adapter and it was only in B&W...

Try a google search for adapters or converters.

You problem is that the signal going into your tv is NTSC but the TV needs PAL. You will see black and white because the signal is not being interpreted properly. I had a similar problem when trying to hook up a playstation to a PAL TV in England, but there was a multiformat VCR in the house that converted the signal. I had no problems after that...

I have an 8886, hooked it up to a scart cable with a svideo connection and 2 phono connections for the audio.

I did experience the problem that you are talking about, being black and white... if I hooked it into the first scart socket on my TV. but when I hooked it into the second, the tv recgonised it as svideo, siaplyed it fine and played the sound no problem as well...

If you want the cable, I know maplin sell it... basically, 4pin svideo + 2 phono on one end, scart socket on the other

Hope this helps if you want audio through your tv as well
