Ok, i purchased a 1 gig ram update for my laptop, checked if it was right. I had an original ram of 2x256mb cards. I removed the 1 and replaced it with my 1 gig. Now it says i have 768... 1 gig + 256mb DOES NOT EQUAL 768...Help plz...

You could be facing incompatibility issues: new ram not compatible with the mainboard or with one of the old ram modules. Play around, putting the modules in different slots and see if this solves the issue.
