hi there, my friend told me a funny tale; he said he got the white version of the new macbook beacuse he heard that the black 'paint' rubs or falls off... has anyone had this problem, or is this just lol thanks

I hope this isn't true, I was going to get the black macbook in about five days but i'm not quite sure if the paint will rub off, maybe this covered as an unknown defect?

Well, I heard the extact opposite. I heard the white paint next to the trackpad will rub off due to sweat and whatnot in a couple of months use.

This is interesting...anyone who has a macbook and reads this post, let us know what color you have and if anything has been an issue.

I don't know if the keyboard has it, but the outer shell of the black MacBooks is covered with a material that is supposed to protect it from scratches as they show up more on the black plastic. That material has been flaking off for some people. Personally I'd rather have a glossy black than the matte black, but I guess Apple didn't want to get sued again like when the black iPods first came out.

all i can say is, the black will look 10x dirtier.. the mouse, and keys will begin to smooth over many days of use, and will look worse than the white one. thats why i went white

Im thinking that the black macbook would have plenty or dirty and very visible fingerprints on it after a while (a la PSP)
