I am replacing the HD on a Sony PCG F540. Will the system recovery disks that came with it allow me to reinstall Windows 98 and all of the device drivers once I have partitioned and formated the new drive. I was reading in the instructions that came with the recovery disks that it will format the drive for me. Should I format the new one myself if I am able to use the recovery disks?

If not I will have to buy a new copy of Windows 98 right?


Again:

1. Do the recovery disks work with a newly installed hard drive?

2. Should I go ahead and format it with fdisk after I partition it or will the recovery disk format it for me.

3. I am planning to install a HITACHI Travelstar 7K100 HTS721060G9AT00 (0A25022) 60GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache ATA-6 Notebook Hard Drive. Anyone have any experience with this drive in a F series Viao. It is supposed to be compatable this notebook.
