i was going to order a new laptop.. should i wait for this or probably try to upgrade later? Jan is still a long way off.

Wait for Vista? No.. Most everyone will tell you that its not worth upgrading the OS til atleast Service Pack One is out.

They just released RC1. I believe it's the final one before the production release.

I got an email from Microsoft this morning, allowing me to download it. Only 100,000 downloads are allowed. Hopefully my download of it is going OK at home, on my m5550. I'll then get to try my DVD burner on it.

I'm running Beta 2 on my desktop.

Correction: I guess it's the pre-RC1 release.

I didn't get to the MS site in time to get the product key. But got the download, DOH!

Did you get one w/the Beta 2 release?

If so, I think you can use the same one.
