HUGE Problem, any help appreciated....

Okay, so here's the story:

Recently I tried installing Linux (dual boot) with my current XP. I made a new partition for it, etc. Linux wasn't working out so I deleted that partition and gave the rest of the space to my current XP partition. After that, my computer would boot and say

Code:
"grub loading... please wait
error 22

so i read around the internet to try and fix my boot, and i figured out if i used the Windows CD and got into the recovery console i could use the commands "fixboot" and "fixmbr", so i tried those and now all windows does is go into windows setup, which never even finishes.

what can i do? (I'd like to either get windows working again how it was, or atleast get all my files so i can just reformat)

thanks!

I had this error a couple of days ago. It seems grub turned my EXT3 partition into NTFS and made it completely useless, so i just deleted it and installed linux from scratch.

I've fixed the problem of Windows not booting.. but now when it does it says :

*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
*** The system has been halted ***

Great... do I have faulty hardware?

Seems your ram is malfunctioning. Take off each dimm to see which one is bad.

Okay, I got my computer to work again with all my files intact by repairing windows..

Now my computer is doing horrible with games like HL2, CSS, etc. Any ideas why? The framerate used to be around 60 for those games and it's down to 11...

I would suggest that you back up all your needed and/or important files/documents and reinstall everything again. Good luck.
