5720: Laptop stand or laptop cooler?

Thread Starter
If I'm using my 5720 as a desktop replacement, would y'all recommend getting a laptop stand or using a laptop cooler?

- I don't mind using a separate mouse/keyboard.
- The goal here is to keep the laptop cool under normal use and gaming.

If you think I should use a laptop cooler, what would you recommend? The 5720 has two fans, and I'd like to move air into each. Thanks!

I've had a Targus Podium Stand for some time, which I've used for 3 laptops now.
Its nothing fancy but it is portable and adaptable.

Deciding to go for a cooler would be dependent on the ambient temperature where you normally use your machine.

Spire Pacific Breeze Cooler from newegg. It is simply the best cooler I've ever seen. Lots of people on these forums highly recomend them. Took my temps down by 5-8C.

The problem with all those notebook coolers is that most of them blow under the CPU and GPU (the think part of the laptop).
These components already are quite well cooled and the temps will only go down a few degrees.

I would like to have a cooler that provides cooling to the other parts my 5720.
These parts get quite hot but don't have active cooling,
see these pictures with bottomtemperature readings under full load.

I'm still looking for a cooler that gives more relieve to those components.

I got above pics from this site:

This is the one I have for my 5720. It's clean cut, tough, and simple. I have my laptop sit over the front lip a bit. That way there is a gap between the front and the cooler to cool down like you were talking about Klaash. drops my temps 5-10 degrees C. (variance comes from whether my A/C in my house is on, but always at least 5.)

Hello forums btw

I've had my 5720 for almost a year, and my favorite feature is the ability to turn the cooling fans on max all the time. As long as the fans aren't obstructed and I clean it now and then, I have no problems even in the desert heat of Iraq.

have you tried looking at a portable laptop desk instead of a cooler?
