Well, my original Hard Drive crapped out on my 5660. It had a problem last August, which somehow mysteriously fixed itself, and has been running ok until now. Well, it died again this last week.
I did a resistall of WinXPpro, and it now works again, but with severe speed/lookup problems...it makes a strange ticking sound when looking up any info, with an accompanying 10 second delay.
Another strange thing is that for some reason, the reinstall has made my D: partition unreadable. Great good thing I partitioned my harddrive, and put all the programs and OS on C, so if it crashed, all my saves and documents would be safe on D: WTF?

Anyway, I am looking to upgrade from the original 40gig 4200rpm drive to a 60gig one. The question I was wondering was, will it be worth paying more for th 7200rpm version, or will the 5400rpm one be enough to make other hardware be the bottleneck.

I am running a P4-2.8 with 512RAM. I am planning an upgrade to 1024RAM with this hard drive, and was wondering if anyone had noticed the speed difference between a 5400 adn 7200 with a similar setup?

Also, i checked on the PCtorque website, and they only had hard drives listed under the 86??series machines, are they the same drives as the 56?? machines? Would It be cheaper to go through Newegg.com or another distributor, or do I need to deal with Sager or a reseller directly on this?
