The issues with mine seems too be more with the AC power not plugged in and wifi.

hey kalison, can you explain what happenned to your rig?

you were @ a 72hr lan (so how was the lan? people ooooing n ahhhing over your lappy eh?)

and then your hdd just took a dump on u?

Sucks. I truly believe the problems came from the GPU overheating and computer taking slide dump on me.

What I dont get is that the lappy shut down on me while being on my lap, then once on the trunk of my friends car and then on the desk at home. All the times where without the AC plugged in. Now that I did have the AC plugged in and the fans for the GPU running the whole time, sitting on a desk(not on the notpal cooler by cooler master) the computer had no problems, ran all the task and everything.........I really freaking knew what was going on??

I really want too say the GPU is at fault here however I can not get GetThermal too work so I guess I'll have to wait or something

UPDATE:

Recharged the battery and been using it every since and still no problems with this darn thing. Its like all the problems just pretty much dissapared for some odd reason......sucks. I'm going to upgrade my warrenty when I have the time and money too do something like this. Dont feel to safe with just one year and I think I'll go above and beyond with that ALX crap too.

In the end I pretty much going to throw out that this lappy wont be doing too much mobil too mobil crap like going to school anymore since its too bucky and I'm afriad of damaging it, stolen, and this whole mess of heating up. ahhh this sucks...

The HDD took a dump yesterday at about 10pm.. so the LAN was over and I was at home just diddling around with it at the time.. playing a little WoW. The thing to remember is that the HDD almost never had a break... between loading up games, and playing them.. there was no rest. Whether I had been at this 72hour LAN or not... the HDD was bound to fail. The LAN was all kinds of fun! The laptop took everything I could throw at it. We did some Act of War, Rise of Nations - Rise of Legends (quite the resource hog with high settings), Quake 4, BF2, Half-Life 2, Total Annihilation (classic), Spellforce 2, etc. And yes... it everyone was looking at it and asking me all kinds of questions, and what not. It was even better when people came by and said "WTF.. what res is that?" when I told them 1920x1200 they were in shock and disbelief that a laptop could sustain playable frames in that res. Some would just come by and look at say "god damnit... it plays better than my desktop" then walk away. The 5750 never once overheated or locked up on me... I was truly impressed.

Update: So it the computer wanted too be an ass and forze on me again Watching a video and the little ****er wanted to play games and just took a nice dump on me! HOOOOORRRRRRAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY

Called up alienware tech support yet again and had a nice long convo with the tech guy Frank and we ended up going too the computer recovery with the windows cd. Then we went into the chkdsk and the stupid thing took over an hour and half and ended up with with few errors and problems where fixed.

Called them back and they told me too keep my case number and keep playing wiht the laptop too cause the problem again. If such a problem arise agian too just calll back with the case number and they might end up sending me a new harddrive or I'll end up sending the lappy back too them get repaired or whatever What a pain in the ass...

Good luck with that... i dont know if i should go through with my m5550 re-order again... i might just cancel it. (hopefully they can still waive the 15 % restocking fee if i dont follow through with my new m5550 order) I'm was thinking of exchanging mine to the m5750 or 9700 but really skeptical now... my original m5550 arrives back at AW on monday so i have a few days to decide if i want a full refund or not...

So its still having freezing problems.

I'm pretty much fed up calling them and having a 2hour or so convo with no fix at all. Yes I'm very patient person but come on now! So yes I'm sending this thing too back too one of there drop off points too get it fixed. IF they do not want too do this I'm just going to ask for refund. I'm done with this crap.

You're "old" FX53? My desktop is a plain 3.2G p4 with a 6800 ultra. Your laptop beats my desktop almost...

I need too clean my room

I've alredy posted my benchs in this forum. As you can its not the most impressive numbers at all if thats what you're going for..

With the new bios its fixed pretty much all my problems.
The only thing that bothers me now is the speakers system on this machine is more annyoing then anything else. If the system isnt sitting on all of its rubber the buzzing from the speaker vibrating the plastic sucks. Its the only worse part of this machine. Looking at pretty much all the AlienWare systems it looks like majorty will have this problems too.
